We Love These Unexpected Bridal Processional Songs

Walk down the aisle to a non-traditional song that will have your guests in tears…

Weddings have always had a love affair with traditions. The white gown and something blue, throwing the bouquet, wearing a boutonniere and wearing the ring on your left hand. Yet none of them is more synonymous with tradition than your walk down the aisle. From walking side-by-side with your father before he gives you away to seeing your partner for the first time that day, to having “Here Comes The Bride” filling your venue as you close in on your happy ever after. But just because it’s tradition doesn’t mean you have to do it. After all, this is your wedding and it should represent you, traditional or not.

So if one of the more classic processional songs isn’t how you envisage walking down the aisle, don’t worry because we’ve rounded up some unbelievably beautiful alternatives to play as you make your way to the altar. And, yes, there’s a little bit of everything. Enjoy.

“Iris” (Acoustic) by the Goo Goo Dolls

The lyrics we love: "And I'd give up forever to touch you // 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow // You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be // And I don't want to go home right now."

“Somewhere Only We Know” by Lily Allen

The lyrics we love: “And if you have a minute why don't we go // Talk about it somewhere only we know?// 'Cause this could be the end of everything // So why don't we go // Somewhere only we know?”

“By Your Side” by Sade

The lyrics we love: “When you're on the outside, baby // And you can't get in // I will show you // You're so much better than you know // When you're lost and you're alone // And you can't get back again // I will find you/Darling, and I will bring you home // And if you want to cry // I am here to dry your eyes // And in no time, you'll be fine.”

“Hard To Concentrate” by Red Hot Chili Peppers

The lyrics we love: “All I want is for you to be happy // And, take this woman and make you my family // And, finally you have found someone perfect // And, finally you have found… Yourself.”

“Somebody” by Depeche Mode

The lyrics we love: “I want somebody to share // Share the rest of my life // Share my innermost thoughts // Know my intimate details // Someone who’ll stand by my side // And give me support.”

“Moon River” by Henry Mancini (from Breakfast at Tiffany’s)

The lyrics we love: “Two drifters, off to see the world // There's such a lot of world to see // We're after the same rainbow's end // Waitin' 'round the bend // My huckleberry friend.”

“Here and Now” by Luther Vandross

The lyrics we love: “I look in your eyes and there I see // What happiness really means // The love that we share makes life so sweet // Together we'll always be // This pledge of love feels so right // And, ooh, I need you.”

“Best Day of My Life” by American Authors

The lyrics we love: “I feel it in my soul // The stars were burning so bright // The sun was out 'til midnight // I say we lose control.”

“Like Real People Do” by Hozier

The lyrics we love: “I will not ask you where you came from // I will not ask you, neither should you // Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips // We should just kiss like real people do.”

“What A Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong

The lyrics we love: “I see trees of green // Red roses too // I see them bloom // For me and you // And I think to myself // What a wonderful world.”

“Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac

The lyrics we love: “To you, I'll give the world // To you, I'll never be cold // 'Cause I feel that when I'm with you // It's alright, I know it's right // And the songbirds are singing // Like they know the score // And I love you, I love you, I love you // Like never before.”

“Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris

The lyrics we love: “I feel so close to you right now // It's a force field // I wear my heart upon my sleeve, like a big deal // Your love pours down on me // Surround me like a waterfall // And there's no stopping us right now //I feel so close to you right now.”

“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

The lyrics we love: “Oh, home, let me come home // Home is wherever I'm with you.”
